How to apply

Last updated: 12/12/2011 // How to register your application

If you wish to apply for a Schengen visa or a residence permit in Norway you must register your application online using the Application Portal Norway before proceeding to the Embassy at the time of booked appointment for handing in supporting documents, copies and pay application fee.

The online application procedure will result in shorter processing time, less queues at the Embassy, as well as making it easier for applicants to re-apply for subsequent visas. Applicants can also check the status of their applications online. It is also possible for the reference person/inviting party to make the registration online in case the applicant can’t make it by him/herself.

Applicants going to Denmark, Sweden or Iceland may only use the Portal for Schengen Visas, not Work/Residence Permits.
Please, note that your visa application is not submitted and taken under consideration until you have been to the embassy, paid the fee and submitted required documents.

Existing users (applicants have previously used the Application Portal)

Applicants who have used the Application Portal before can simply log on, use the last application as a template and only change details such as travel dates, etc  and book an appointment to hand in the supporting documents.

Group registration

Applications can be registered individually or in groups on the Portal. A group may consist of 1 - 15 applicants, however, it is a requirement that all applicants have the same nationality and are travelling on the same dates, with the same itinerary. Registering many applications as a group saves time, however, only individual applications may be copied for subsequent applications in the future.

Families or people who always travel together may therefore want to register all applications individually.

Please remember to bring the cover letter, application form, all the necessary supporting documents and original passport when you come to the Embassy.

What you must do before coming to the Embassy:

• You must bring all the original supporting documentation required, as well as a perfect copy of each original.
• The copies must be A4 in size, with no staples, stickers or torn pages.
• The copy of your passport must be in colour.
• All originals will be returned to you, the Embassy only requires to see them. The Embassy will keep the copies.
