Requirements for residence, work and study permits for Norway
All foreign nationals who intend to stay in Norway beyond 90 days must have either a residence- work or study permit. As a general rule, the application for such permits must be submitted from your country of origin or from a country where you have had legal residence for a minimum of the last 6 months prior to application.

• Work permit - entitles the holder to work in Norway. Different rules apply to nationals of different countries and to with people with different occupations.
• Residence permits for students - a foreign national who wishes to study in Norway may be granted a residence permit for this purpose
• Family reunification - means that a family member is living abroad is allowed to come to Norway to live with one or more family members who already live here or intend to live here permanently
