The minister expressed his gratitude for Norwegian support to capacity building for the oil sector in Sudan as well as the Norwegian advisory role in the oil negotiations with SPLM during the CPA-process and since then between Sudan and South Sudan. He reiterated the strong wish of continued cooperation.
Oil Minister Ali Ahmed Osman Ambassador Kjemprud said Norway was ready to continue a cooperation programme with Sudan based on the new realities after 9th July. The ambassador emphasized the huge potential in Increased Oil Recovery (IOR) which is an integral part of the cooperation programme and said Norway was ready to sign a new 3 year agreement for cooperation in this field (IOR), Health and Safety, Environment and capacity building.
The parties agreed to finalize details as soon as possible to move the programme ahead. Norway, also represented by counsellor Trine Jøranli Eskedal and first secretary Sophie Cleve also had the opportunity to discuss how The Ministry of Petroleum would have a prominent role to play during the Norwegian initiated economic conference for Sudan to be hosted early 2012.
