Speaker appreciates relations between Sudan and Norway

Last updated: 29/07/2012 // The Speaker of the National Assembly Ahmed Ibrahim Al-Tahir, has appreciated the strong relations between Sudan and Norway, including the deep-rooted parliamentary relations between the two countries, according to Sudan Vision.

During his meeting with ambassador Jens-Petter Kjemprud last Thursday, Al-Tahir said that the meeting will contribute to pushing ahead with the bilateral relations, referring to his recent visit to Oslo and the important issues that were tackled during the visit. He lauded the role of Norway and its contribution to the peace process in the country as well "as its role in conveying the message of the Sudan to many other countries" according to Sudan Vision.

Meanwhile the ambassador confirmed the readiness of his country to strengthen its relations with Sudan and highlighted the recent signature of agreements in both the oil sectors as well as fisheries. On the issue of the oil between Sudan and South Sudan the ambassador said that the position of his country is based on the fact that an agreement of cooperation would benefit both ("create a win-win situation") and contribute to stability. He hoped that the dialogue between Sudan and South Sudan will lead to an agreement on the security issues to enable cooperation in all fields.
