Norwegian Minister of International Development visits Sudan

The Norwegian Minister of International Development Heikki Holmås today visits Khartoum for discussions with the Government. Norway has a comprehensive development programme in Sudan including in the oil sector, fisheries and academic cooperation.
While visiting Sudan Mr. Holmås will meet Dr. Ghazi Salahuddin Atabani, Minister of oil Awad al Jaz and undersecretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Rahamtalla Osman as well as humanitarian actors. Mr. Holmås will also have a comprehensive programme at Afhad University.
The latest development in negotiations with South Sudan (where Norway advises on oil issues), the economic situation as well as the constitutional process will be on the agenda in addition to bilateral issues related to the development cooperation programme. Afhad University have a longstanding and comprehensive programme of cooperation with Norwegian universities and Mr. Holmås will therefore pay the university a visit.
The Minister arrives in Sudan after having paid a similar visit to South Sudan.
