Norge støtter nybrottsarbeid innenfor sikkerhet og samarbeid i Jonglei Stat, Sør Sudan.

14/08/2008 :: Det norskstøttede programmet ”Community Security and Arms Control” (CSAC) i Jonglei stat er i oppstartsfasen og 11-13 august hadde de planleggings- og ressursfordelings-møte med deltagere fra stat og county nivå samt lokale partnere i Bor. Møtet samlet alle kommisjonærene fra distriktene i Jonglei og dette er første gang etter fredsavtalen at alle møttes i et forum der de kunne diskutere felles utfordringer og løsninger. Jonglei har vært sterkt preget av lokale konflikter etter signeringen av fredsavtalen (CPA) i 2005. + More

16/12/2006 :: Sudan is now the largest recipient of Norwegian development aid, with a budget of approximately 600 million NOK per year. Development assistance covers a wide variety of areas, and entails both bilateral and multilateral projects. New National Currency

New National Currency

23/07/2007 :: The new national currency – the Sudanese Pound – was launched on the 9th of January 2007.This represented an important event in the implementation of the CPA. First and foremost, it is an important symbolic measure of change, but it also corrects the current situation where as many as six currencies are legal tender. Particularly in the Southern Sudan the new currency will benefit economic development. Norway has taken the lead among donors to mobilize international support. Petroleum Workshop in Khartoum

07/01/2007 :: Part of the petroleum co-operation between Sudan and Norway is to build capacity through seminars and workshops. An important added value is confidence building and establishment of networks between participants from North and South in Sudan. + More

Norway to increase development assistance

29/11/2006 :: The Norwegian government intends to increase development assistance by NOK 2.2 billion in 2007. Overall, the development assistance budget for the year amounts to NOK 20.75 billion: the highest level ever, corresponding to 0.97 per cent of Norway’s gross national income (GNI). + More
