Civil Society Relations

23/09/2006 :: The civil society relations between Norway and Sudan are long-running and diverse. The Norwegian Government's commitment to Sudan originally stemmed from the long-term relationship between Sudan and certain Norwegian Non-Governmental Organisations (NGO's), in addition to the close academic collaboration between the University of Bergen and the University of Khartoum. Today, civil society relations continue to play an important role in the relationship between the two countries.

25/11/2006 :: Norwegian and Sudanese academic institutions have had extensive academic and research contacts for several decades, and continue as of the signing of the CPA to collaborate closely. Especially the relationship between the universities in Khartoum and Bergen provided important networks, and has contributed to a substantial scholarly production on a range of issues. + More

25/11/2006 :: Norwegian humanitarian engagement with Sudan dates back to the 1960's, when several NGOs started humanitarian work in the area. Especially Norwegian Church Aid (NCA) and Norwegian Peoples' Aid (NPA) have had extensive activities in Sudan for several decades, particularly in South-Sudan. + More
