Rally adventure in wintry Norwegian forests

From 16 to 18 February 2007, the Norwegian brothers Petter and Henning Solberg, along with rally greats like Sébastien Loeb and Toni Gardemeister, will take part in Rally Norway, one of the World Rally Championship’s most exotic rounds to date.

15/02/2007 :: The round, which is the first Norway has organised for the World Rally Championship, will begin and end in Hamar. The drivers will face narrow winter roads as they complete stages in the mountainous Lillehammer region north of Hamar and in the forests around Kongsvinger, to the south. The drivers will cover 343.76 kilometres of spectacular snow and ice stages over the course of Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Former world champion Petter Solberg and his older brother Henning will not lack international competition. Rally Norway has attracted a record number of entrants, and all of the biggest teams are taking part. Elite competitors like Guy Wilks, Toni Gardemeister, Juho Hänninen and reigning world champion Sébastien Loeb will be fighting for the podium places with the Solberg brothers.

Regardless of whether spectators find themselves a spot in the forest or follow the Rally on TV along with millions of others, the World Rally championship offers exciting action. For one of the stages, five kilometres of the embankment of the river Glomma will be transformed into a massive grandstand, enabling spectators to watch the cars throughout the entire stage.
